Library (open on Wednesday and Thursday from 11:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 17:00, closed in August)

Sonia Delaunay-Terk was known for her free and intuitive use of colour. Her work blurred the boundaries between disciplines: visual arts, applied arts, and decorative arts merged together.

The library recently acquired Jeu de cartes Simultané, a card deck designed by Delauney-Terk. This library exhibition places the card game in dialogue with other works from the rich collections of the library and the museum. Three themes form the framework for the exhibition: colour and research, the artist’s book, and everyday play.

About the artist

Delaunay-Terk (Ukraine, 1885 – France, 1979) created paintings but also designed artist’s books, posters, costumes, and interiors. In her playful compositions, form and colour evoke contrasts and relationships. Colour can express emotions, but also philosophical ideas or political issues. This way, the use of colour remains relevant for artists and designers today.

Opening hours library

The library is open without an appointment on Wednesday and Thursday from 11:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 17:00. If you want to see specific publications or archive items, you can make a reservation on the website or send an email to bibliotheek@vanabbemuseum.nl so we can prepare the materials.

Please note: the library is closed in August due to the summer closure.
