Step into an accelerated world. It introduces her Delivery Dancer universe, which she has been developing since 2022 as a story system where labour, time, and identity are constantly shaped by algorithmic pressure. Two delivery drivers, Ernst Mo and En Storm (anagrams of “Monster”), move through engineered systems that track, optimise, and gamify their work. In this world, identity is always split, shifted, and rebuilt.
Unlike earlier chapters set in a fast version of Seoul, this story takes place in Novaria, an imagined underground city without sunlight. Here, time is no longer guided by the stars but created through systems of delay, speed, and repetition.
Visitors also encounter a sundial sculpture that presents a speculative three-year calendar based on Kim’s personal system of timekeeping. Together, these works invite us to feel time as something that bends, loops, and changes shape in unexpected ways. This is the first solo exhibition of Ayoung Kim in the Netherlands.
