What does art education look like? And could it be different? The Feminist School of Painting by artist Ad Minoliti reimagines art education. Instead of focusing on competition or preparing artists for the market, it creates a shared space for learning, collaboration, and creativity. For two months each year, local artists, activists, and researchers lead free sessions every two weeks, combining talks with hands-on workshops.

Starting from the history of painting, the sessions explore queer, feminist, and other ways of thinking about social change in playful and experimental ways. When the school is not in session, the museum’s regular educational programmes take place among the murals. Inspired by the plants around the museum and the atmosphere of a magic show, these murals explore figures like the clown, a character that resonates with drag and queer stories of chosen kin and family. In this way, the spirit of the school remains present throughout the year.
