As a part of Make Some Noise: Desire. Stage. Change., you can visit the exhibition alongside several soundtracks created by the Summa Music Production Lab between April 7th and April 27th. These soundtracks were inspired by the artworks on display at the ground floor of the Delinking and Relinking exhibition, and can be found in the Smartify App as well as in a brochure from the Summa Music Production Lab.

Summa Artist’s Music Production Lab is a program in Eindhoven that trains students with a fascination for music to become the entrepreneurial creatives of the future: makers who create music and audio both independently and on commission, and who know how to market those within the rapidly changing industry.

For this project, the students of Summa x MPL drew inspiration from two exhibitions at the Van Abbemuseum. In Make Some Noise: Desire. Stage. Change., twelve international artists and collectives come together to form a powerful mix of solo presentations, performances, and other encounters. Their work encompasses choreography, sound art, theater, sculpture, cinema, and AI-driven composition. With movement as its central theme, Make Some Noise: Desire. Stage. Change. invites visitors to get moving, listen, and imagine how things could be different.

Delinking and Relinking shows how artists respond to different cultures and how they grapple with the big questions of their time. It reveals how their artworks are directly connected to what they see, feel, and experience around them. Often inspiring, sometimes confrontational, Delinking and Relinking spans over a century of art history, featuring Marc Chagall’s Hommage à Apollinaire from 1913 as its earliest work and Laure Prouvost’s tapestry This Means Tableau from 2019 as its most recent. Due to renovations at the Van Abbemuseum’s Collection Building, Delinking and Relinking will be partially on view between March 23 and April 26.

You can listen to the soundtracks between the April 7 and April 27 on the Smartify App.
On April 21, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, the presentation of Summa x MPL will take place at the Van Abbemuseum in the Sound Chamber. This event is intended for Summa, but if you are interested in attending as an outside visitor, please contact us at: educatie@vanabbemuseum.nl.
