Opening Homecoming

Homecoming is an exhibition curated by Alien Mag in the Van Abbemuseum's project room. The exhibition is curated by guest curators Imane El Oualkadi, Naima El Azzouzi and Aminanta Minte, the founders of Alien Mag.

What does “home” mean? For some it is a place, for others a feeling, a memory or a smell. Five artists, Hemaseh Manawi Rad, Rita Pieternella, Larissa Schepers, Miranda Gashi and Irem Pınarbaşı, take you on their personal quest through this multi-layered concept. Homecoming is all about the link between who you are, where you come from and what you remember. The artists show how cultural habits, stories and sensory experiences all play into your sense of home. The result is a collection of personal stories that invite you to reflect on your own idea of “home”.
