1m2 Collective

Over the past three years, 1m2 Collective has been posing the question: “How can design festivals facilitate space for design talent in an inclusive way?” Over the last three editions of Dutch Design Week, they have presented over 45 young designers in just 1m2 – The smallest expo with the biggest impact!  

By creating a safe and inclusive space they have opened up important conversations about what it truly takes to participate in a design festival, and provided a solution. However, driving real change means constantly evolving. This year, rather than hosting an exhibition at Dutch Design Week, 1m2 Collective is taking a step back to realign with their values and rethink how design festivals can become more inclusive, accessible, and sustainable. 

They invite the community to join them at Sectie C, where they will host a special 9-day workshop space. During this workshop, they will delve into the true costs and benefits of exhibiting at design festivals. Following the workshop, 1m2 Collective will present the conclusions of their research at the van Abbemuseum's event space, The Studio, on Sunday, October 27th. 

This gathering will provide an opportunity to present key insights and, most importantly, to continue the dialogue with the wider design community. 1m2 Collective invites everyone to join them at the van Abbemuseum to explore these critical questions together.
