Performance Color Wheel

Daily, members of De Onkruidenier invite you to join the activation of the Color Wheel. An hour-long sensory experience, specially developed for Dutch Design Week, will focus on various stories from the tomato community, climatic news from the summer of 2024 and the six pigments from the Forever Summer tomato selection. During this performance, stories, objects, materials and flavors come together in a tomato tasting experience. Tomato varieties come with an infinite expression of shapes, flavors  and colors. In many local communities of tomato enthusiasts, the diversity is cherished and celebrated. Why then are most commercial tomatoes red and round? Designing and cultivating monocultures and uniformity in our food system prones us to be vulnerable. How can we care for and embrace the abundance in tomato varieties?
