For Ima-Abasi Okon's new solo exhibition, we offer additional guided tours in Mandarin, Turkish and German. Design academy alumni will guide you through the exhibition with new and site-specific work, early prints and recent sound works. Tour guide Laura Papke is an interdisciplinary artist and designer based in Eindhoven. Her work explores body, sound, and ritual, creating collective experiences that establish spaces for mutual care and well-being.

The exhibition makes us reflect on how ideas of “improvement” were deployed to legitimise the appropriation of land-as in colonialism. Okon reveals how this way of thinking still permeates today's drive to improve and optimise our bodies. From their own disciplines and knowledge, the language guides respond as makers to the exhibition and the themes.

Für Ima-Abasi Okons neue Soloausstellung bieten wir zusätzliche Führungen auf Mandarin, Türkisch und Deutsch an. Alumni der Designakademie führen Sie durch die Ausstellung, die neue ortsspezifische Arbeiten, frühe Drucke und aktuelle Klangstücke präsentiert. Die Ausstellung erforscht, wie Ideen von Fortschritt mit Menschen, Gesellschaft und Politik zusammenhängen. Sie verbindet auch koloniale Vorstellungen von Fortschritt – wie die Inbesitznahme von Land und dessen Kultivierung für die Industrie – mit heutigen Ideen der Optimierung und Verbesserung unserer Körper für die Arbeit.

Tourguide Laura Papke ist eine interdisziplinäre Künstlerin und Designerin aus Eindhoven. Ihre Arbeit erforscht Körper, Klang und Rituale und schafft kollektive Erfahrungen, die Räume für gegenseitige Fürsorge und Wohlbefinden etablieren.
