Family Art Club Special: Shadow Hunt

In the lead-up to the partial solar eclipse on 12 August, this special edition of the Family Art Club on 8 August explores the relationship between light, shadow and time. We begin with a short visit to the large-scale exhibition Collection as Cosmos, where different ways of experiencing time are explored and artworks are presented like stars in a universe. Afterwards, volunteers from Eindhoven Observatory will introduce us to the story of the Sun, the Moon and eclipses.

We will then set out on an investigation of our own. Together, we will collect shadows, trace them and transform them into unique artworks. Through making and experimenting, we will discover how shadows not only make an eclipse visible, but also how the movement of the Sun can help us think differently about time. An afternoon of looking, exploring and making for curious children and adults alike.

  Who: Children and adults
  Group size: Maximum of 10 children per group
  Cost: €7.50 per child. One adult may join free of charge per child. Please purchase a ticket for the child only.
