Have you always dreamed of seeing your own creation in a museum? This is your chance! Discover the designer in yourself and make a Rough and Ready chair using instructions!

During this special edition of the Family Art Club: The space between us, children and adults will make 10 unique editions of the Rough and Ready chair. These 10 creations will later be exhibited in The space between us. The exhibition is on view between 7 October and 19 November (and thus during Dutch Design Week 2023).

What is the Rough and Ready chair?

In 1998, Tord Boontje designed the Rough and Ready chair, a chair that can be assembled using cheap or recycled materials. The designer published the plans for this design on his website. This makes each chair unique and dependent on the materials available. Boontje is interested in the beauty of imperfection. The chair will be exhibited with other DIY designs and artworks that focus on instructions. The artists and designers thus reflect on how to shape the world differently, in a way that involves us all.

Let your imagination run wild, discover the true (sustainable) designer in yourself and join this special edition of the Family Art Club: The space between us on Saturday afternoon, 2 September.
