Description

Pacheco invites the viewer to look for possible stories. Here we see a procession of people with backpacks walking through tall grass. Are they festival-goers, protesters, or perhaps refugees? From which perspective should we look at this image? Pacheco uses realism to investigate the nature of collective action. But Pacheco’s painting light, transparent, homogeneous – can’t be pinned down in a statement. The pastel colors and the lack of identifiable features result in an image that transcends reality and takes on a timeless aspect.
