Description
Corneille’s 'Aux abords de la grande cité' (On the Outskirts of the Big City) ispainted in 1960. More than a decade after the Second World War, the new world of progress is in full swing. From 1948 to 1960, Corneille repeatedly visits various countries in Africa and South America, as well as New York. The many impressions he acquires inspire his paintings, which also convey his interest in structures that unite opposing shapes and colours.
