Poetry Book Launch

An afternoon of poetry, language and personal stories

The Van Abbemuseum is proud to present Para Seguir Viviendo (To Keep Living), the first poetry book by artist Cristina Flores Pescorán. In this collection, she shares her personal experiences with illness, recovery, and long-term care, and how her body holds the memory of these moments.

The poems are written in both English and Spanish. Through this, Flores Pescorán shows what it feels like to live between two languages, as an immigrant, and how the meaning of "home" can change. As part of the exhibition Positions #8 Art is a Verb, where her artworks are also on display, we invite you to join a special programme. Together, we will read some of her poems and take part in a shared translation exercise, woven into an open conversation between Cristina Flores Pescorán, assistant curator Abril Cisneros Ramírez, and everyone present.
