LEARN AND EXPERIENCE
Over 130,000 titles
The Van Abbemuseum’s library is recognized as one of the best specialist libraries in the Netherlands. Accessible free of charge, the library concentrates on scholarly literature in the field of modern and contemporary visual art. You are welcome to read the periodicals here, to study books or simply to scan for ideas.
Are you an artist?
Are you between six and ten years old? Do you enjoy looking at art works and especially making a few of your own? Come to the Van Abbemuseum on Saturdays for the Children's Art Club!
Give your own interpretation!
The Van Abbemuseum offers tailor-made lessons for pupils at secondary level. The lessons may relate to temporary exhibitions or specific parts of the collection, and may also be thoroughly adapted to the interests and current themes of your own school’s teaching. The aim is to go further than the regular guided tours which concentrate mainly on imparting information. The challenge to the pupils is not just ‘what do you know about art?’ but also ‘what do you think about it?’
Free guided tours
Free guided tours take place every Sunday at 12:00. These tours are meant for individual persons, not groups. Please note that only the guided tours are free, not the entrance fee!
Let us introduce ourselves...
At the Van Abbemuseum we like a good conversation. An interesting exchange generally begins with a simple question or comment, which opens the way to further exploration of the topic. So do not hesitate to approach one of our staff for a chat about art; we would love to talk to you.
