Christina Viola Oorebeek: Streamlines

Concert in collaboration with axesjazzpower

18/12/2011
14:00

In recent years Axesjazzpower has organized a number of portraits of composers, programmes in which the spotlight focused on a single composer. This time Christina Viola Oorebeek has put together the programme “Streamlines” at our request, incorporating some of her new and older works.

The American-Dutch composer studied in Los Angeles at the Ravi Shankar School where she became an expert in Indian music. In San Francisco she sang in a rock band during the Summer of Love. Later she settled in Amsterdam, where she decided that “autonomous music” would become her guideline.  It is understandable that she had many different musical influences. Her ideal is constant discovery and invention. The percussionist Arnold Marinissen, harpsichordist Goska Isphording, the viola di gamba player Karin Preslmayr, the recorder player Karolina Bäter and the violinist Jellantsje de Vries are performing her music in the Van Abbemuseum.

Entrance is free with a valid entry ticket to the museum or € 3.50 for just the concert. Free of charge for under-16s, provided there is enough room.
