The crowd funding project, initiated by the museum’s volunteers and guides was successful: on the 31st of October, 100% of the €30.000,- target was collected. Over 250 donors contributed, the rest of the purchase price is realised by the BankGiro Loterij. The artwork, which was a guest in the museum for more than 30 years, is being sold by the owner’s heirs. As the museum did not have a sufficient budget to purchase it, there was a danger that the Wood Circle would leave the museum. The crowd funding project stopped this from happening. Read more...

- P for Performance: Choose Happiness, Humor, Enthusiasm, Gratitude, Kindness, and a Positive Outlook. _event by Gunndís Ýr Finnbogadóttir & Maja Bekan* 18/06/2011 Being productive and competitive in business doesn’t mean that you have to be serious all the time. Smiling doesn’t mean you’re not working hard. Enthusiasm doesn’t mean you’re not competitive. Being positive doesn’t mean you’re blind to challenges. Choose to enjoy your time at work. Find others who are like this and spread good cheer. It’s contagious and it grows. Try to avoid gossip and negative chat. It can be tempting, but it doesn’t serve anyone well, including yourself.
- Discussion Territory - Marko Peljhan 17/06/2011 19:30 With support of the Foundation Promotors Van Abbemuseum the museum recently bought the work 'Territory 1995' of the Slovenian artist Marko Peljhan. This work is a monument to a recent event that connects the Netherlands with Bosnia for ever. Marko Peljhan followed the war that went on in former Yugoslavia in the early ninetees and especially the genocide in Srebrenica where 8000 persons were killed by the Serbs. He brought together the colllected information on this military operation in the installation 'Territory 1995' and with this he created a labyrinth behind which the most unthinkable and unimaginable hides.

- P for Performance: There is no such thing as an innocent reading an event by Read-in* & Maja Bekan 09/06/2011 19:00 Read-in is the collective effort of instigating instant reading sessions in other people's homes. Initiated in February 2010 in Utrecht, NL by artist Annette Krauss and theatre maker Hilde Tuinstra in collaboration with The Grand Domestic Revolution—User’s Manual by CASCO, this evolving experiment in group reading delves into a process of unusual social activity involving ringing neighbors' doorbells with the request to host the collective reading. Through conceptualizing the permeation of private space and communalising a typically solitary activity, the Read-in practice calls attention to the relationship between the content of a book and the reading of a place, opening up new understandings of the material, affective, and political dimensions of ‘reading together’. www.read-in.info
