- Memoires van een vergeetal (Memoirs of a forgetful person) René Daniels Documentary 01/07/2012 - 23/09/2012 Last year Filmmaker Jan Thijssen followed René Daniëls closely, which resulted in the documentary Memoires van een vergeetal (Memoirs of a forgetful person). During the term of the solo exhibition of René Daniëls this documentary is on display at the Auditorium of the Van Abbemuseum.

- Presentation The Innocent Eye Project by Roland Schimmel 21/06/2012 18:00 - 21:00 The mural created by artist Roland Schimmel (Hooglanderveen, 1954) at the Van Abbemuseum, was finished in early May. Yet the work still constantly changes under shifting natural light. Given that the sun plays such a key role in the work there will be an official presentation on June 21, the day the sun is highest in the sky. At 19.30 h Charles Esche (director Van Abbemuseum) and Mark Kremer (curator and writer) will give an introduction and personal reflection on the work, in the presence of the artist.
- Autonomy and its Contradictions Lecture by Andrea Fraser and launch Open. Cahier, no. 23 on Autonomy 16/06/2012 15:30 - 18:00 SKOR Foundation for Art in Public Space and the Van Abbemuseum present a lecture and discussion by and with artist Andrea Fraser on Saturday June 16th, 2012 in the Van Abbemuseum, to celebrate the launch of Open. Cahier on Art and the Public Domain, no. 23 on Autonomy. This issue is inspired by The Autonomy Project symposium in the Van Abbemuseum held in October 2011. Reflecting a rich variety of voices and perspectives, this edition of Open addresses the necessity and possibility for autonomy in a time of political, economic and aesthetic turbulence. The lecture will be followed by a discussion between Andrea Fraser and Charles Esche. The event and discussion will be in English. Reservation in advance is required.
- René Daniëls Workshops Connecting - Een persoonlijke verbinding met kunst 12/05/2012 - 23/09/2012 Sinds twee jaar werkt het Van Abbemuseum samen met het kunstenaarscollectief Connecting. Tijdens de René Daniëls tentoonstelling Een tentoonstelling is ook altijd een deel van een groter geheel verzorgt dit drietal, bestaande uit Remko Leeuw, Karin de Nijs en Bernadette van Loon, interventies. Deze interventies bieden de bezoekers alternatieve mogelijkheden om een intensieve en persoonlijke band met de kunst en het museum aan te gaan. Interventies zijn een soort korte workshops waarbij de individuele bezoeker reageert op wat hij ervaart en hiermee een (tijdelijke) aanvulling op de museumopstelling teweegbrengt. Deze persoonlijke aanvulling kan bestaan uit een voorwerp, een stroom van woorden of gedachten over het proces. De tentoongestelde kunst vormt hierbij het uitgangspunt en Connecting vormt een relatie tussen de bezoeker en dat wat binnen en buiten het museum is, de kunstenaar, en het museum.

His significance for the development of the artist’s book as an independent art form earned him this creditable position, particularly in artistic circles.

This time Christina Viola Oorebeek has put together the programme “Streamlines” at our request, incorporating some of her new and older works.

Lecture Anna Tilroe (Dutch Spoken) 01/12/2011 19:45 - 20:45 Anna Tilroe, art critic, curator and professor emeritus of Art and Culture at the Radboud University of Nijmegen, is giving a lecture in the auditorium of the Van Abbemuseum at 6.30 on Thursday evening, 1 December on therelationship between the private collector and the museum. In 2010 she wrote the celebrated essay De ja-sprong, naar een nieuwe vitaliteit in de kunst (The affirmative leap, towards a new vitality in art). The lecture is organized by De Krabbedans Eindhoven and has close links with the exhibition The Collectors Show in the Van Abbemuseum, with artworks from 10 private collections of regional collectors.
