- Dan Perjovschi Wall drawings Perjovschi usually draws pictures and writes texts for walls, newspapers and books. He makes these drawings in an almost spontaneous manner at the time when he is asked, allowing the flow of current events to effect the final result. As an artist, he is always on the lookout, observing everyday reality for moments or actions that can be made remarkable.
- El Lissitzky and contemporaries In the Netherlands there are two major collections with works from Russian avant-garde artists from 1920 or thereabouts: the Amsterdam Stedelijk Museum’s Malevich collection and the Van Abbemuseum’s Lissitzky collection.
- Didier Vermeiren Collection de Solides 13/09/2003 - 30/11/2003 Collection de Solides is Vermeiren’s first solo museum exhibition since 1995 (b. 1951). The exhibition and the accompanying catalogue are based around the Belgium artist’s most recent sculptures and photographic works (made between 1997-2003).

- Martin Kippenberger Tiefes Kehlchen 22/11/2003 - 30/01/2005 During the exhibition the Studio is home to a partial reconstruction of the installation Tiefes Kehlchen, first constructed in Vienna in 1991. Originally realised with PAUHOF architects, this ensemble was conceived for a construction tunnel running for several hundred yards in the Viennese underground railway system.

- Journal #5 Lucy McKenzie – Deathwatch 21/02/2004 - 07/11/2004 Lucy McKenzie (Glasgow, 1977) is a painter in the wider sense. Many of her paintings are portraits of artist colleagues or friends, metaphorically elaborated and enriched by a wealth of attributes from other sources – as far afield as Russian Constructivism or 1950s wall paintings – whereby the purely formal, compositional aspects of the source are as important as the hinterlands of its contents.

- In the vitrines Wendingen Magazine 24/02/2004 - 11/06/2004 Extended to 11 June 2004 The Wendingen magazine which appeared between 1918 and 1931 evolved into a major mouthpiece for the Amsterdam School movement.
- Journal #6 Tino Sehgal 04/03/2004 - 23/05/2004 Tino Sehgal (GB, 1976) studied both dance at the Folkwang Hogeschool in Essen as well as political economics at Humboldt University in Berlin and Essen. In recent years his ‘sculptures’ were observed at large art exhibitions like Manifesta 4 in Frankfurt (2001) and the Venice Biennale (2002).

- Joseph Kosuth, Re-defining the Context of Art: 1968 - 2004 ‘The Second Investigation’ and Public Media 03/04/2004 - 28/03/2005 Joseph Kosuth (USA, 1945) belongs to the foremost representatives of Conceptual art from the Nineteen Sixties and Seventies.
- Ad Snijders A garden between woman and paint 19/06/2004 - 19/09/2004 Ad Snijders (NL, 1929) is inextricably linked with the Van Abbemuseum and Eindhoven. As well as two solo exhibitions and participation in numerous group exhibitions, he can rightly be described as a major eyewitness of the museum.
- Paul McCarthy Brain Box Dream Box 19/06/2004 - 14/10/2004 Paul McCarthy (USA, 1945) has been widely recognized since the 1990s for his large-format video installations and sculptures. Many of his works draw on the vocabulary of contemporary popular culture.
- In the vitrines Open Dossiers: One on One - Historical 22/06/2004 - 24/09/2004 Open Dossiers , as the name implies, is a documentary exhibition displayed in the vitrines showing a selection of material from the Van Abbemuseum's exhibition archive.
- Journal #7 Tomma Abts, Vincent Fecteau 02/10/2004 - 23/01/2005 The Van Abbemuseum is introducing the work of Tomma Abts (Germany, 1967) and Vincent Fecteau (USA, 1969) for the first time in the Netherlands.

- Ria van Eyk, Iceland Books Created with the Colours of Vulcanic Soil 17/01/2005 - 24/02/2005 The oeuvre of Ria van Eyk (Venlo, 1938) consists of tapestries, paintings, drawings and commissioned works. She is one of the major pioneers engaged in liberating textile art, especially through her monumental use of textiles in architecture.
