- In the vitrines Conceptual artists books from the Van Abbemuseum collection and publications by Stanley Brouwn 25/01/2005 - 15/04/2005 In the nineteen sixties artists turned their backs on both traditional media as well as the traditional institutes that exhibited this type of art.
- Un coup de dés 05/02/2005 - 26/06/2005 Un coup de dés (A Throw of the Dice) is the title of an exhibition in which possible coincidental cross-links, affinities and mutual influences among a number of artists from the Van Abbemuseum’s collection is the central theme. The exhibition’s title is derived from a poem written in 1897 by the French proto-modernist and symbolist poet Stéphane Mallarmé.
- Journal #8 Manon de Boer en Brussel 19/02/2005 - 16/05/2005 The last exhibition in the journal series is in keeping thematically with the collection display NEDERLAND NIET NEDERLAND. Artist Manon de Boer (NL, 1966) and museum curator Phillip van den Bossche have jointly compiled a video and film programme based on the city of Brussels.

- Living Archive 08/05/2005 - 08/11/2009 It is not the past but the future that gives the Living Archive its raison d’être. This exhibition series treats museum archives as a treasury of ideas about the future. The relatively static archives are brought into connection with a dynamic, current external world, in which it serves as an active working memory.

- Lawrence Weiner Various Manners With Various Things 01/10/2005 - 13/11/2005 'In the Vitrines’ presents a selection of books, leaflets, multiples and invitation cards by the artist Lawrence Weiner (New York, 1940). These publications executed in cheap media give expression to Weiner’s view that art should be bountiful and democratic.
- Lily v.d. Stokker The Complaints Club 01/10/2005 - 25/10/2007 From 1 October the Van Abbemuseum is showing a number of new wall paintings by Lily van der Stokker (Den Bosch, 1954). In this new work Van der Stokker complains heartily about money, people and the ‘scandalous’ way she is sometimes treated.
- People's Park Living Archive 01/10/2005 - 23/04/2006 The documentary exhibition People’s Park (originally shown at the Van Abbemuseum from 18 December 1970 to 18 January 1971) traces the emergence and decline of a public park on the campus of the University of California (Berkley, USA).
- The street. A form of living together Living Archive 01/10/2005 - 23/04/2006 The Street. A Form of Living Together (originally shown at the Van Abbemuseum from 2 June 1972 to 24 September 1972) is now regarded as a legendary exhibition. Young curators in particular praised the way it was presented, its socially relevant theme and the form or model used – based on everyday experiences – to put the point across.

- In memory of Edy de Wilde Director of the Van Abbemuseum 1946 - 1963 13/12/2005 - 03/04/2006 Our former director Edy de Wilde died on Saturday, 19 November 2005. He was 85 years of age. As a tribute to the man and his work, we are presenting a small documentary exhibition drawing attention to the period of his directorship at the Van Abbemuseum.
