Opening hours
• The Van Abbemuseum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• The museum is closed on Monday, with the exception of public holidays.
• The museum is closed on New Year's Day, King's Day and Christmas Day.
• Due to refurbishment the museum will be partially closed between 14 May and 28 May 2013. You can access the old building of the museum (Sheela Gowda), The Eye (Erzen Shkololli), The Studio (Afghanistan Research Project), The Library, Museum cafe Karel 1 and the museum shop.
From 28 May until 7 June the whole museum will be closed. The Museum cafe will be closed with the exception of 31 May and 6 & 7 June. Museum cafe Karel1 will also be open during festival ‘Music at the Dommel’ on 1 & 2 June.

Every first Thursday evening of the month: free entrance!
Every first Thursday of the month, the Van Abbemuseum is open until 21:00, admission to the museum is free from 17:00 on those nights. Also the museum cafe is open until 21:00.
Library
The library is open Tuesday through Friday from 11.00 a.m. to 17.00 p.m. The library is closed in August.
Wheelchair accessibility
The Van Abbemuseum is wheelchair accessible. Next to the main entrance there are 2 parking-places for disabled. For assistance, please call +31 (0)40 238 10 00.
House rules
There are a number of house rules that apply during your visit to the Van Abbemuseum.
• Access to the library, museum café and museum shop is free. A valid admission ticket is required to visit the exhibitions, available for purchase at the ticket desk near the main entrance. The admission ticket includes a sticker, which you should wear visibly on your clothing, so that the security personnel/museum guards can easily see that you have an entrance ticket.
• Works of art are fragile. To prevent any damage we request that you leave your coat, bag, rucksack and/or umbrella in the cloakroom. The cloakroom is unattended. The management cannot be held responsible for loss, damage or theft of personal belongings. There are free lockers available for the secure storage of your personal effects.
• It goes without saying that you are not allowed to touch artworks. For safety reasons, remain at a distance from the works of art. We ask parents or adult supervisors of young children to be especially alert. Running around is forbidden in the museum.
• It is forbidden to use a mobile phone or to smoke within the building.
• Smoking is permitted only on the museum café’s terrace.
• Taking photographs in the museum is allowed, providing you do not use a flash or a tripod. Professional photographers should make an appointment in advance of their visit, by sending an e-mail to: pressoffice[at]vanabbemuseum. Special rules apply for wedding photos, for which you should always contact us by e-mail in advance: info[at]vanabbemuseum.
• The instructions of the museum personnel should be respected at all times, in connection with safety within the building.
• Consumption of food and beverages you have brought along yourself is not permitted anywhere within the museum.
• During your visit you can use the open wireless network (WIFI), bound by a Fair Use Policy and completely on your own risc. The Van Abbemuseum is not responsible for any claims derived from the activities of the users.

Route description
Eindhoven is easily accessible by car, bus, rail and air. The city is situated in the south-eastern part of the Netherlands, near the Belgian and German borders. Furthermore, it is located in the heart of the circle of cities comprising Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Brussels, Paris, London, Düsseldorf and Cologne. These cities are all within an hour-and-a-half's reach.

By car
Eindhoven is situated at the junction of the A2 and A67 motorways. No matter how you approach the city, head to the city centre and follow the signs to the Car Park 'Stadskantoor/Van Abbemuseum', Car Park Stadhuisplein, Heuvelgalerie, or De Lage Landen car park, which are all a 5-minute walk away from the Van Abbemuseum. These are the most convenient places to park your car. By train
Every half hour, Dutch Railways operates city-to-city links from Amsterdam, Utrecht, The Hague, Rotterdam, Venlo, Heerlen and Maastricht to Eindhoven. The Van Abbemuseum is a 10-minute walk from the train station through the pedestrian-only city centre. A Tourist Information Office (VVV) is located next to the station. By air
Eindhoven has good air connections with Paris, London and Amsterdam. The Eindhoven airport is situated only fifteen minutes from the city centre. There is a regular daily service between Eindhoven and Amsterdam, Rotterdam, London Heathrow, London Stansted, Birmingham, Manchester, Hamburg and Paris. For flight informationl, please visit the website www.eindhovenairport.nl. It is also possible to use one of the larger airports in the region. The travel time from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Brussels Airport and Düsseldorf International Airport to Eindhoven is under 90 minutes.
Public transport: bus, (train)taxi
The bus station is located next to the Eindhoven Centraal train station. Bus line 7 (in the direction of Aalst Ekenrooi) and bus line 17 (in the direction of Genneper Parken) will take you directly to the Van Abbemuseum within 10 minutes. Get off the bus at the 'Stadhuisplein' stop. At the south side of the train station there are taxis.
On foot
From the train station it's a ten-minute walk to the Van Abbemuseum through the pedestrianised area of the inner city.
