During our Jubilee you will of course visit the programme VANUIT HIER - OUT OF HERE. Three different exhibitions, especially installed for the 75th anniversary, you can view works from the collection which were specially made for the Van Abbemuseum or for which artists have been inspired by the city or the museum, you will get to know the marvelous world of the Eindhoven artist Dick Verdult and you will get an insight in artworks from private collections of regional collectors.
75 years and still contemporary!
This year it is the 75th birthday of the Van Abbemuseum and we want to celebrate this with you! During the anniversary party on Saturday 24 September from 11 am to 11 pm, we invite you for a day full of art, theatre, music, circus, food and drinks. Admission is FREE. You can also participate in various creative or culinary workshops.

Programme Saturday 24 September
11 AM - 11 PM: Help Save the Wood Circle
Come in and visit hall 7 in the old building. Get to know our cicerones and volunteers who took the initiative to start a campaign to keep the Wood Circle (1977). You can contribute as well! There are beautiful t-shirts and buttons for sale in the Museum Shop.

12 AM - 8 PM: De Kippenkar (the Chicken Trolley)
The Kippenkar is a mobile kitchen. What you see is what you get. A friendly girl stirs a large pot of soup or cuts fresh eggs into pieces. She will serve you chicken soup, corn soup, or mini sandwiches with fried quail eggs.

In this workshop you will get to know Freerunning, Parkour and Tricking. It's new, it's fast and it's flashing! the Eindhoven based artist Bram Hermens is invited to develop a big, new, wall art for Het Oog (The Eye). He works here almost every day, untill the end of the year. During this Jubilee, he will explain his work.

3 PM - 3.45 PM: Lecture "The New Man" by Marcel van Dam (in Dutch)
One of the quotes from the artist El Lissitzky's is: "I am not going to do this. You can do this." No one other than sociologist, (former) politician and film maker Marcel van Dam and his wife Milou Derks, were inspired by this. In this lecture explains Marcel van Dam why and how he made this model of the New Man.

Fashion show and installation of the New Man
Following the lecture of Marcel van Dam, the New Man will be installed on the first floor of the new building. He will be escorted by the models from fashion collective I agree with... who showed her new collection during the Dutch Design Week 2010. This collection is inspired by the work of Lissitzky.

Almost everyone know the legendary country singer Johnny Cash, the man in black with his deep baritone voice. Songs like Ring of Fire and Walk the Line have made him immortal.
The highly successful Eindhoven cover band Def Americans will bring Cash back to life, even if it's just for a while!

10 PM: Belly dancer Sita performs!
Sita is an all round professional oriental belly dancer from Amsterdam, specializing in oriental belly dance and Argentine tango. She also has a strong background in Bollywood dance and flamenco. Sita's dance style is elegant, full of passion, charisma and expression. A woman with entertainment in her heart and soul.

At the end of the evening, the Eindhoven choir 'Vrouwen van Hendrik' will sing several songs.
