- Be[com]ing Dutch 26/01/2007 - 31/12/2008 Be[com]ing Dutch is een tweejarig project dat zowel binnen als buiten het Van Abbemuseum wordt ontwikkeld, en dat bestaat uit debatten, leesgroepen, kunstenaarsprojecten, tentoonstellingen, cursussen en vormen van collectieve participatie en productie. - The space of post autonomy your-space 20/03/2009 - 01/05/2009 David Goldenberg (UK) will develop a script by mapping notions of Post Autonomy with numerous interested and engaged people. This will lead to a vocal work to be staged in and around a floor drawing. The event will look at the practical steps necessary for materializing the space of Post Autonomy, and how to navigate that space.
- Invisible empire : undefined spaces your-space 30/10/2009 - 16/11/2009 The term “No man’s land” is generally accepted as an unlimited combat area in between two enemy trenches. It is a space that neither side openly wishes to occupy or take control of due to the fear of being attacked in the process. It is also a term for unoccupied land or more specifically, an area that is under dispute between parties and abandoned due to fear or uncertainty. Metaphorically, the concept of “no man’s land” allows us to explore the perception of this ominous and obtuse phrase.
- Play Van Abbe Het museum in de 21e eeuw 28/11/2009 - 26/06/2011 Vanaf 28 november is Play Van Abbe 18 maanden lang het belangrijkste project voor het museum. Het is een veelzijdig programma met en rond de collectie van het Van Abbemuseum en beslaat het grootste deel van de expositieruimte. Play Van Abbe bestaat uit tentoonstellingen, projecten, performances, lezingen, discussies en nieuwe manieren om een kritische reflectie van het publiek op de relatie tussen kunst en de samenleving mogelijk te maken. Met de maatschappelijke veranderingen van de laatste 20 jaar in het achterhoofd stelt het museum met Play Van Abbe actuele vragen over de identiteit en het doel van musea en instellingen voor cultureel erfgoed.
